S.E.E.D.S centre-based programmes offer full-day care for parents who are working or going to school.

LOCATION - EDGEHILL

S.E.E.D.S – EDGEHILL was built specifically as a child-care centre and offers care for children 6 weeks (infants) to 6 years (kindergarten). The centre is located on the southwest corner of Anne Street and Edgehill Drive, just north of the Dunlop exit of Highway 400. It has a licensed capacity for 87 children and serves children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. The daily schedule involves a balance of group and individual learning opportunities and includes two hours of outdoor play each day. The curriculum is based on a child-centred approach and uses both play and problem-solving activities to promote early learning.

INFANT ROOM: The Infant Room is licensed for 10 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 18 months. We have four teachers working in the Infant Room throughout the day to ensure that we always maintain a 3:1 ratio. The Infant Teachers provide a full programme of activities for the children including regular outdoor play and/or walks around the neighbourhood. The Infant Room daily schedule is extremely flexible to accommodate each child’s regular daily routine for naptime and mealtime.

TODDLER ROOMS: We have two Toddler Rooms at our Edgehill location. The JUNIOR TODDLER ROOM offers care for 10 children (18 months to approximately 2 years) and has two full time Early Childhood Educators in the room. Our SENIOR TODDLER ROOM also offers a programme for 10 children (2 years to 30 months) who are cared for by two Early Childhood Educators. Day Nurseries Act regulations requires us to maintain a ratio of 1:5 for this agegroup. The programme within the toddler room focuses on helping children develop self-help and social skills while nurturing their growing sense of curiosity.

PRESCHOOL ROOMS: There are two Preschool Rooms at the Edgehill centre. The JUNIOR PRESCHOOL ROOM is licensed for 16 children aged 30 months to 44 months and has two full-time teachers within the classroom. We also have a smaller SENIOR PRESCHOOL classroom that is licensed for 8 preschoolers with one full-time teacher. Both preschool classrooms provide a curriculum of activities and learning opportunities to extend children’s developing interests and skills. The preschool classrooms also offer a formal social skills programme based on the Incredible Years’ DINA DINOSAUR SCHOOL.

KINDERGARTEN ROOM: Our kindergarten room is licensed for 20 children who are 3.8 to 6 years old and eligible to attend junior or senior kindergarten. The classroom offers programmes for children who attend elementary school on alternate days or full-time care for children who have opted out of the regular school system. There are two full-time educators in the kindergarten classroom to maintain a 1:10 ratio. The kindergarten classroom focuses on building strong literacy and numeracy skills, social competence, self-confidence and independence. The kindergarten classroom’s curriculum includes a formal social skills programme based on the Incredible Years’ DINA DINOSAUR SCHOOL.

HOURS OF OPERATION

S.E.E.D.S- EDGEHILL is open from 7:15am to 5:45pm, Monday to Friday, year-round.
