Meals and Snacks
Nutrition:

Meeting nutritional needs is one of S.E.E.D.S' foremost priorities. We have an exemplary Nutrition Policy to ensure that all children in care enjoy a well-balanced selection of tasty, nutritious foods. We strive to:
- provide food low in excess oils, salt, preservatives, and sugar,
- plan menus items that are high in grains, healthy proteins, and high fibre fruits and vegetable, and
- provide milk and/or water over juices
Children receive:
- a mid-morning snack,
- a seasonally appropriate noon-time meal, and
- mid-afternoon snack.
All full-day programmes employ an cook certified in food preparation and appropriate health practices. Our cooks are an integral part of the childcare team and several have been with the organization for many years. For children with food allergies or significant sensitivities, we are happy to make appropriate substitutions. Parents are welcome to request copies of our weekly menus and centre cooks are always eager to share their secrets!
Infant Feeding:
To meet the diverse needs, parents of infants must supply their own baby food, fruit juices, and formulas in sterilized bottles. Similarly, written feeding instructions are required for all infants under one year of age – these are continuously updated as children grow and their respective menus expand. Once developmentally appropriate, each child is provided with regular table food.
