Our Staff & Providers

The early years in a child’s life are the most critical in their maturation. Quality childcare supports a young child’s growth and development as well as providing peace of mind for parents who are working or going to school. The Classroom Educators and Home Providers at S.E.E.D.S. are professionals and very knowledgeable about child development and early childhood education. They provide each child with rich and exciting experiences in a warm, loving and secure environment.

OUR STAFF (Centre-based, School-based and School-Age programmes)

S.E.E.D.S - Child Care - Barrie, Simcoe CountyStaff qualifications are strictly governed by the Day Nurseries Act. Each PROGRAMME SUPERVISOR has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and a minimum of two years experience working in licensed childcare. We are fortunate the our programme supervisors have been with us for many years – their knowledge, experience and strong leadership skills ensure the programmes operate according to all licensing requirements and that the policies and procedures of the organization are upheld at all times.

The Day Nurseries Act requires us to have one “qualified” teacher within each classroom. Most of our CLASSROOM EDUCATORS have graduated from an Early Childhood Education programme – we also have some employees who are currently working towards their diploma and are enrolled in the Early Childhood Education programme on a part-time basis. Additionally, we welcome staff who have diverse backgrounds and experience with other related training. All of our educators who work directly with the children have current emergency First Aid/CPR training.

Most programmes also have a full-time onsite COOK who is an integral part of programme . All of our cooks are required to have their Safe Food Handlers certificate (which is renewed every five years).

S.E.E.D.S - Child Care - Barrie, Simcoe CountyIn-house training is held regularly to keep our staff up-to-date on the most current research and practices within the childcare field. Most recently, all staff participated in the Hanen Early Language training series through the Simcoe County Preschool Speech & Language programme; and the Incredible Years social skills programme facilitated by an Early Intervention practitioner. Every November, all the staff get together for a day-long professional development day during which time we review corporate issues and receive training in current childcare topics.

The employees of S.E.E.D.S Childcare are passionate about their work with young children and their families. They have chosen Early Childhood Education as their career because of their dedication and commitment to supporting the education and development of young children during their most formative years. Their commitment to quality childcare is the foundation of our organization.

OUR PROVIDERS (Family Home settings)

Our Family Home Childcare programme is overseen by a PROGRAMME SUPERVISOR/HOME VISITOR who is specifically responsible for recruiting and screening new Providers as well as monitoring the Providers’ work with young children on an ongoing basis.

S.E.E.D.S - Child Care - Barrie, Simcoe CountyFamily Home Childcare PROVIDERS are selected for their ability to understand and meet individual children’s needs. Their homes are thoroughly inspected to ensure a safe environment is provided at all times. Each provider must provide a clear criminal record check as well as documentation of Emergency First Aid/CPR certification prior to enrolment with the agency. Additionally, each Provider undergoes a health assessment prior to accepting children into care and all family members provide immunization verification. Unlike independent caregivers, S.E.E.D.S. Providers receive regular support from our agency staff. Our Providers receive regular resource packages as well as monthly visits to answer questions, offer suggestions and bring new ideas to support their programme.
