Our Story

 

Simcoe Early Education and Development Services (S.E.E.D.S) have been providing child care services to the families of Barrie and area for fifty years. S.E.E.D.S. Childcare is a non-profit, charitable, community-based co-operative childcare program, incorporated in 1974.
S.E.E.D.S. Childcare is operated by a professional and dedicated management team, under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors which is composed of parents and community representatives.
Our organization is well-known and highly respected for its continued commitment to building strong, quality programs that support the early development of young children. The quality of our programs is based on our commitment to hiring qualified and experienced Educators; ensuring that they receive ongoing training and education; developing strong partnerships with parents; and working collaboratively with community partners. S.E.E.D.S. Childcare is recognized as, “Leaders in Quality Care”.
S.E.E.D.S Childcare has been a pioneer in providing innovative programs based on the most current and relevant research. In 2000, S.E.E.D.S. Childcare identified the Reggio Emilio and Emergent Curriculum approaches (programs that are based on children’s interests) as the most successful approaches for children’s learning. We adapted our programs and curriculum approach accordingly and have shared our experiences and successes with other agencies.
With the recent introduction of, “How Does Learning Happen”? our approaches to planning have naturally blended with this document to provide continued high quality programming.
