Accessibility Plan

SEEDS Childcare accessibility plan of 2022-2026 outlines the policies to improve supports and opportunities for people with disabilities.

Statement of Commitment

SEEDS Childcare is committed to supporting people’s accessibility needs in a timely manner and providing a barrier-free environment for our employees, volunteers, students on placement, job applicants, customers and visitors. It is our intent that all people have access to our premises, information and services. We support the requirement of the Integrated Accessibility Standards regulation for customer Service, Information and Communications, Employment, and Transportation set forth under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (2005).

Accessible Information

SEEDS Childcare is committed to meeting the information and communication needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. All information and communication shall follow the principles of dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity.

Employee Awareness & Training

SEEDS Childcare will continue to provide training to employees, volunteers and students on Ontario’s accessibility laws as they relate to people with disabilities. The training plan sets time-lines for compliance as well as monitoring compliance, identifies and provides training resources for staff.

Employment

SEEDS Childcare will notify employees and the public about the availability of accommodation for job applicants who have disabilities. Job applicants will be informed that these accommodations are available, upon request, for the interview process and other candidate selection methods. Where an accommodation is requested SEEDS will consult with the applicant and provide or arrange for suitable accommodation.

Emergency Response

SEEDS Childcare will work in partnership with any employee who has a disability to provide an individual support plan for any emergency response that may be required. These plans will be made available to all staff and any new staff prior to the start of their shift. Our goal is to ensure a safe environment for all of our employees and that all employees of SEEDS support individuals with disabilities.
